This was a boat that Kel Marine Services had been captaining and maintaining for some time. It was a custom built boat that was originally installed with a very "creative" DC generator power unit with many belts running different systems. Unfortunately for the owner it was a problem from day one.

The poor design created a lot of belt dust. Belts were wearing out frequently, required long engine run times of up to 4 hours to perform basic functions such as water making, battery charging. Refrigeration had to be handled separately. In addition to all this, it was extremely noisy.

Kel Marine Services re-engineered the systems and installed a very quiet and efficient AC generator so that all the systems could be run together with a run time of 1½ hours per day to maintain all of the vessels power needs at anchor. This provided the owner with savings in operating costs and maintenance costs, and most importantly it made voyages more enjoyable.
